Prof. Atakan Sezer completed his medical education at Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul. His post-graduation surgical specialty training was in Trakya University Faculty of Medicine General Surgery Department between 2000-2005. After his residency, he continued to work at the same department as lecturer. In 2007 he was assigned as assistant professor in his department. He became professor of surgery in 2017 and wored at Trakya University School of Medicine as full time faculty since then. Prof. Sezer visited Breast Center at Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and 2010. He also worked as a fellow in European Institute of Oncology (EIO) in Milan, Italy in 2010. He had trainings on oncoplastic breast surgery in EIO in 2010 and European Academy of Senology in 2012. His main academic interests are benign and malignant breast diseases, oncoplastic breast surgery, endocrine surgery and experimental surgery. He is the member of Istanbul Breast Society, (Turkish) Senology Society, Turkish Society of Surgery, (Turkish) European Asian Society of Mastology (EUROMA). Prof Sezer is an active fellow of American College of Surgeons. He is the founder and president of Trakya Breast Diseases Association. Prof. Sezer is among the leading tutors in national courses and workshops on professionalism and oncoplastic breast surgery. He has more than 150 national and international articles, book chapters and presented more than 120 abstracts in national and international meetings. He is holding currently the associate editorship position in “Causapedia” which is an international online journal. Prof. Sezer is also in the editorial board of Balkan Medical Journal, Breast Case, European Journal of Breast Health, Istanbul Medical Journal, and Video Journal of Clinical Research.
